Luis Mariutti , bassist for Shaman and former Angra member , reminisced about his appearances as a soccer player on Rockgol, an MTV program featuring a soccer tournament for musicians.
With teams made up of members from various bands, named by the "in-charge" group of the moment, the championship had a complete professional football structure, with the added bonus of very humorous commentary and journalistic coverage, earning Mariutti the nickname "Jesus Christ".
Speaking about the joke on the show, the musician said humorously, “It would have been worse if you had taken it badly, I came out ahead, right, man? I ended up as Jesus, while Andre [Matos ] ended up as Muse, but he took it well,” he said in an interview with The Wikimetal Happy Hour .
At the time, Andre played as a goalkeeper for the teams and became known on Rockgol as Musa Nissei-Sansei because of his appearance, with long, straight hair in a hairstyle, and also because of his peculiar way of moving during saves, which the presenters compared to dance steps.
Appearances on the classic MTV show led to a series called "From Luis to Jesus" on Mariutti's official channel, recounting his journey in the tournament with footage from that time.
